There are three labels that provide a helpful summary of our beliefs:
We are Christian: That is, we believe in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In this we stand with 2000 years of Christian believers.
We are Evangelical: That is, we believe that the good news of salvation in Jesus is for all people and we long to see the ‘gospel’ transform people throughout the whole world.
We are Reformed: that is we believe in the sovereignty of God over all things, in his gracious initiative in saving us, and in his ability to finish in us what he has started. Along with the Reformers, we adhere to the principles of scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone to the glory of God alone.
At Mordialloc Presbyterian, we are committed to preaching the whole counsel of God’s Word (Acts 20:27; 2 Tim 3:16). This means that as we meet each week, God’s Word is central to what we do. It is God’s Word that changes us by the power of his Spirit.
We are also on about expository preaching, which means going through books of the Bible verse by verse and exposing what God has to say to us today. This means we are dictated by what God says (he sets the agenda, not us). From time to time, we may preach ‘topically’, but our bread and butter is to go through books of the Bible.
